Four Top Tips for a Gorgeous Glow this Winter

The burst of sunshine and warm weather of early November looks like it's over – so as Winter looms it’s important to review your organic skincare routine right now.

Going from central-heated homes and offices out into the cold winter weather can send our skin into a state of confusion - so here are my four top skincare tips for keeping your skin glowing and gorgeous this Winter.

1. Make Your Winter A Balmy One...
Balms are great for protecting our skin during the winter.  They can nourish, smooth, soften and heal skin and are generally a lot richer than a cream.  Look for natural balms that contain natural oils like organic Avocado, Pumpkin, Argan, Evening Primrose and Macadamia Nut Oils.  These are all very nourishing and act a bit like a warming blanket.  They comfort our skin, heal it, nurture and protect it.

Balms come in various guises – as you would find in some of the best organic skincare products, in my range I have a lovely cleansing balm called 'Clean Sweep'. It is not only a wonderfully effective cleanser, it will also leave your skin feeling softer, smoother and brighter – helping to restore your skin’s natural radiance.

I also have a very rich and nourishing night balm called 'Rest and Regenerate' – which is great for repairing damage and as its name suggests, regenerating tired, dull and damaged skin. It is perfect for ridding your skin of any flakiness – a common symptom of winter weather, particularly if you spend time outside. Used nightly, you’ll find your skin looks brighter, radiant and glowing.

2. Scrub, scrub, scrub...
Dull, dry and flaky skin is not a good look but it’s a common look for skin during the Winter. However, with regular exfoliation you will ensure dullness is a thing of the past. A mild but highly effective natural exfoliators will slough off dead, dull, flaky skin cells and will increase the rate of new skin cells. Your skin will look brighter and more radiant.

Look for products that contain natural fruit enzymes and fruit acids (on the label these will appear as AHA and stand for Alpha Hydroxy Acids) as these are mild and gentle but highly effective.  Used once or twice a week, your skin will thank you for it! My natural and organic exfoliator is called 'Scrub Up' and is great for almost all skin types.

3. Keep Your Skin Hydrated...
Going from the cold and often harsh outdoor weather into a hot heated house can confuse our skin.  It’s important to keep it hydrated and fresh – day and night.  Hydration comes from using a daily natural and organic moisturiser like 'Thirsty Work' or 'Balancing Act' but it also comes in the form of natural and organic skin tonics and toners.

These natural toners can be used to spritz over your skin after you have cleansed and can also be used throughout the day to top up levels of hydration.  Look for tonics and toners that are free from alcohol as these can dry out the skin. 'Freshen Up' is  a lovely floral toner and tonic that can be used day and night to keep your skin hydrated at all times.

4. Treat Your Skin this Winter...
I have combined three of my key natural and organic skincare products into a fabulous Christmas gift pack to bring your skin a Gorgeous Glow this winter. Containing 'Scrub Up', 'Freshen Up' and 'Rest and Regenerate' this organic gift set comes beautifully packaged and also includes a luxuriously lovely organic muslin face cloth - plus you save over 20% off the normal price for a limited time!
