Find Some Faith in Face Oils

For many people, the mere mention of the word 'oil' conjures up images of greasy, spotty, oil-slicks - and fears of adult acne, blackheads and bad skin rearing it's ugly, oily head!

But in actual fact, using natural face oils won’t make your skin greasy or more oily – providing you select the right oils for your skin type, you’ll see a real improvement in the condition, look and feel or your skin - and I for one am a huge fan - here's why.

I cannot urge enough to have faith in natural and organic face oils – the secret to success is making sure you use the right face oils for your skin type. If you select the right oil, you’ll see how it will quickly absorb into your skin and you’ll really see an improvement to your skin’s tone, texture and appearance. They are so good for your skin and they leave it feeling and looking soft, radiant, glowing and healthy.

If your skin is on the dry side, you need to look for richer, nourishing oils like Avocado, Macadamia and Argan oils.  If your skin is oily you need to look for oils that are thinner, drier and quickly absorbed – like Thistle, Kiwi & Rosehip. If you have combination skin – that is oily in places (usually across your forehead, nose and chin and therefore often referred to as the T-Zone) and dry and perhaps sometimes flakey in other places (often on your cheeks) you need to select oils that will balance your skin.

And then there’s the question of fighting the signs of ageing – combating fine lines and wrinkles. Fortunately there are some oils that are multi-functional – and are good for a range of skin types and skin conditions.

I have written about the benefits of Organic Rosehip oil before – and I cannot stress what a wonderful raw material this is and it makes an excellent addition to a luxury face oil.  It’s soothing, nourishing, moisturizing & softening.  It also contains an acid form of Vitamin A which means it is brilliant for treating skin complaints, infections and damaged skin – so great for acne, spots, sun-burn, oily skin, sensitive skin, healing fine lines – the list is endless and it’s why it’s one of my favourite oils to include in natural skin care and because it’s so quickly absorbed, it’s perfect to include in Face Oils.

The best face oils contain other oil-loving active raw materials derived from plants and other natural ingredients.  Look out for Vitamins, Anti-oxidants and other plant extracts that can really provide your skin with a boost.

Face Oils that contain high levels of natural Vitamin E can help keep your skin in tip top condition and also help increase the rate at which healthy new skin cells are replaced (so it has an almost peeling effect on the skin).  You need to look for products like Repair & Renew that contain over 10% natural Vitamin E.

Q10 is an oil loving anti-oxidant that occurs naturally in our bodies but like many things, these natural levels diminish with age and in turn, this means our body’s natural ability to produce collagen and elastin diminish.  Q10 can help boost skin regeneration and reduce any further damage.  I use 4% Q10 in both Balanced & Beautiful and Repair & Renew – my two anti-ageing face oils.
