Rosehips - A Natural Skin Care Phenomenon

It is one of those amazing, wonder ingredients that defies explanation.

A natural raw material that is found in hedgerows up and down the British Isles that, when used correct can benefit so many skin types and skin conditions - and thus is found in some of the best natural skin care products you can buy.

Step forward and take a bow, the humble Rosehip.

Rosehip is a key ingredient in many organic skincare products – and for good reason! Most commercial rosehip oil now comes from Chile and grows wild in the Southern Andes. Its Latin name is Rosa rubiginosa and in South America its referred to as Rosa Mosqueta.

The oil is produced from the seeds of the Rosehip and it is the only vegetable oil which contains natural tretinoin - the acid form of vitamin A which means it is very good for treating a wide range of skin complaints and can help repair damaged skin - from spots and acne, through to repairing damaged skin. It is also good when used in natural face oils - balancing oily skin, helping to refine pores, to smoothes fine lines and wrinkles – a truly wonderfully versatile ingredient.

Rosehip is also a brilliant source of Omega 3 and 6 – and these give the oil its regenerative properties and it is widely acknowledged as being one of the best anti-wrinkle oils available.

It is a soft and smooth oil which means it’s great for people with sensitive skin as it won’t irritate. It is quickly absorbed into the skin and doesn’t leave an oily residue – so it’s perfect when used in natural face oils – and is suitable for all skin types – even oily skins and it can also help refine pores.

Its ability to heal skin is well documented – it can help heal burns – including sunburn; it can also help with pigmentation, wrinkles, acne, eczema and psoriasis – it is so versatile and so effective – it’s a bit like a superfood for our skin. Look out for products that contain vitamins A and E with Rosehip as these are especially healing.

I love it so much – so it’s no surprise that it features in many of my products including my Thirsty Work natural moisturiser and Perfect Pores natural serum. It also plays a starring role in both of my luxurious natural face oils – Balanced & Beautiful and Repair & Renew – which sink quickly into your skin leaving it looking radiant & healthy.

It’s got to be one of my favourite raw materials – simply because it is so versatile and benefits all skin types and conditions in so many different ways. Rosehip, you are simply remarkable!
